While most players I've spoken with don't seem to have strong feelings about twinking one way or the other, neither do they seem to understand why someone would be interested in getting into it. "You guys already know how I feel about Paladins, but if all Pallys looked this badass, I might have to change my opinion. This is Graccus, the anti-hero Paladin featured in the latest TCG wallpaper released officially by Blizzard. See, most Paladins are just shiny golden boys, wandering around the land trying to do good and ""win for the Light"" or whatever. But this Graccus guy looks like he's seen a lot of dark in his day, and he's spent way too long slaying undead rather than prancing around on his little Pally pony. This guy doesn't bubble, he breaks out the Righteous Fury. This is the kind of Paladin I might really like -- he's not holier-than-thou, he's just a holy warrior willing to get his hands dirty. Seriously, most 5-man non-heroic content on my pally requires me to scale my gear down horribly just to take enough damage to keep my mana going. Certainly no bloodthirsty warrior, deceitful rogue, cowardly hunter, ignorant druid or shaman, egotistical priest, mage, or warlock, would be the type that would stand against the darkness for the sake of others or inspire the hearts of their kinsmen to courage in the face of certain doom. Paladin's armor is supposed to be dirty. Ranting aside, whatever gave you the impression that he was an anti-hero. Looks like he's in the Ashbringer's 'School of How to Pwn the Undead in five easy lessons'. The text on the card says, ""The greatest battles are won not by strength of arm, but strength of will."" and what does the card do. "This approach to filling your raids is something that Blizzard wouldn't smile on at all, but that we've seen happening in several guilds. There are two sides to this; firstly, solve the problem of getting skilled players, and secondly solve the matter of gear. It works something like this: random warlock leaves your guild for RL, abandoning a raid-ready character with bucketloads of epics. Instead of recruiting an undergeared or inexperienced replacement, you find someone you know will be a decent player in their shoes -- say the top warlock from your server's other faction. Then you boldly break the TOS and risk getting that player banned. Alternatives include simply getting the cross-faction character to 70 and in basic gear (say a PvP set) then gearing it up as you would any lower-geared player, or even buying the character illegally. We don't approve of this behaviour, not least because it's made serious dents into our guild's pool of decent players -- of course, the argument that they wouldn't have been tempted away by ready-made cross-faction characters if we'd been the right place for them holds some weight here. But account sharing is against the ToS, it can run the risk of the account and even colluding players in your guild getting banned, and it's looked down upon by others which can damage your guild's reputation. Adapt! Finally, if none of the above work for you, why not innovate. Use a different raid setup, reinvent your strategy and play to your guild's strengths. A lot of kills have come around from circumstance; too few healers online, and suddenly the DPS problem vanishes, leaving you with one dead boss. No shamans. Rearrange groups and take advantage of your five Circle of Healing priests. You never know, it just might work. "If you're still running farm instances for those last few drops, and tokens are mostly going to offspec or rotting, a logical recruitment step is to find players who are good, but undergeared, and get them up to speed during farm runs. This works if you have knowledge of the players (word of mouth recommendations are very valuable) and if you don't have a desperate need for them in your main raids just yet, but instead like to take on investment cases. Sometimes there's simply no choice, based on your guild's position, but to recruit and gear someone up. During the gearing process you can evaluate their skill and ability to learn quickly -- it's terrifying for them to be thrown in at the deep end, after all. Given the demand for certain tokens, it's extremely easy for a recruit to walk away from a BT and Hyjal raid night with full or nearly-full tier 6, although shoring up the other holes in their gear might take longer. The downside to this is that, when offered the chance to get decked out in epics and join one of the server's ""big names"", people rarely say no; it's hard to figure out if the player will even stick around once they have their tier gear, or simply sit in Ironforge inactive enjoying their guild tag. Finding the right players skill-wise is difficult too; someone might have been awesome in a heroic, but vastly inexperienced when it comes to raiding, and by the time you realise they're no good they've already gotten tier 6. Finally, if you're really progression-minded and have been farming an instance for months, going back when there's new content out can seem like a step in the wrong direction to some of the guild. With both speed-geared recruits and alts (see below), you'll also run into a glass ceiling when it comes to gear. Healing and dps necks, rings, trinkets and weapons tend to be still sought-after by long-standing members; tank gear less so, as you generally take fewer tanks than healers or dps, but depending on your luck there's probably still a few items your tanks want too. This bars the recruit from getting top gear in many slots; sure, it might get any pieces of healing mail that drop, if they drop, but with blue or Karazhan items in contested slots it won't be on par with your other members. A keen recruit can farm badges and PvP to work on this, though. " "When it comes to niche roles and specs, such as elemental shamans or retribution paladins, you might not really have room for one on your main raiding roster but appreciate the value one can bring to certain fights. Alternatively, it might just be a matter of class balance; you've got loads of druid, paladin and shaman healers, then suddenly you find yourselves up against a fight that requires masses of Mass Dispel. Recruiting new players to fill these niches might not be the only answer, if you've got plenty of farm time and some good all-round players already in the guild. "Q: How do I raise my max lockpicking skill. A: You will gain five points of max lockpicking per level, to a (current) maximum of 350 Q: How do I lockpick. A: First you'll need to learn the skill at your rogue trainer. This becomes available at lvl 16. You will require a set of thieves tools, which you can purchase, but the rogue trainer should send you on a quest line that will require you to practice lockpicking, and along this quest line an NPC will provide you with a set of tools for free. Once you've learnt the skill it will (in common with every other skill in the game) appear in your skill/spell book (bound to the P key by default) under the general tab. You might want to drag and drop this button to your action bar, to save having to open your skill book every time you want to use it. There are three ways to actually pick a lock. In the case of locked footlockers, chests, strongboxes et al (i.e. those not currently in your inventory) you can simply right click on the box and you will, dependant on your skill (see below), automatically pick the lock. In the case of junkboxes and lockboxes, you will need to click your lockpick button, then click on the box in your inventory. Dependant on your skill (again), the box will be unlocked and you can right click it to retrieve it's contents. The third method is only applicable when picking lockboxes and junkboxes carried by other players. "Engineering recipes can be placed in engineering bags, as can engineer made fireworks. Engineering is good for PvP and for a few items useful in raids. Gnomes have a racial ability of +15 to Engineering. This allows them to reach Artisan Engineering prior to level 35. Some defenders can be summoned by the Gnome that are higher level thanks to this bonus to engineering. You can create area of effect and direct damage explosives that you can use during combat. You can also give or sell these to other players. Scopes do not require the Engineering skill to equip. You can sell scopes to other players or in the auction house. Whenever someone upgrades their gun they should also want a new scope. "Now that you know all about stat bonuses, let’s figure out what kind of gear you want to get for your character. For this section, instead of going class by class, I’m going to divide the classes into 5 groups: Tanks, Melee DPS, Casters, Healers and Hunters. This way you can know what kind of gear you want to try for by what role(s) you like to play. One thing to mention first is that I’m not going to discuss what types of weapons and armor each class can equip here. By this point in the game you should already be familiar with what your character can and can’t use. If you need a refresher course, head here to read up on it. Tanks - Tanks of any class want Stamina, Strength, and Agility. Stamina, obviously, for high HP, Strength for increased shield effectiveness (and AP), and Agility for increased armor and dodge chance. Tanks are also the only group that the actual AC of the item will matter to. That is to say, the amount of armor given by the item is important to tanks, as they need to soak up as much damage as possible. AC is not much of a concern to the other groups. Melee DPS - Melee DPS classes want Stamina, Strength, and Agility. Stamina will help their survivability, Strength increases AP, and Agility increases Crit Chance. Rogues (and Cat form Druids) get AP from Agility as well, making that stat even more desirable for them. Mana-using Melee DPS, such as Retribution Paladins and Enhancement Shaman, will also need to get some Intellect on their gear to add to their mana pool. Casters - Casters’ primary stats are Intellect and Stamina. “But what about Spirit,” you may saying. “I want my mana regen to be super duper!” Remember what I said about the 5 Second rule. gamesavor.com/WOW/WoW-PowerlevelingService-FR.aspx">wow lvl In the vast majority of fights as a caster, you will be chain-casting until the fight is over. There won’t be any pauses in combat for your mana to start regenerating. Another thing to note as a caster is the existence of Spell Power gear. Spell Power, similar to Attack Power, makes your spells hit for more damage. "I use a few acronyms in this article and Egwene told me that she got a bit confused when she read it. If you don’t know what some of them mean, head over to my WoW Glossary to get an explanation. The third and last significant change you’ll see around level 10 is gear and weapons that have stat bonuses. I mentioned in my Leveling to 10 article that there are six quality levels of items in WoW and I covered Gray and White (Poor and Common) there. The first thing we’re going to do here is take a look at the other four quality levels. Green Green, or Uncommon, items are actually quite common from level 10 on. They are the first items to have attribute bonuses. When you come across a Green item, I recommend you do one of three things with it: 1) Equip it. If you can use the item and the stats are good for you, then slap that puppy on. 2) AH it. If you don’t want the item, chances are someone else does. Stick it in the AH and make some money. 3) DE it. If you are an enchanter, DE it for the enchanting mats. Nearly all Greens can be disenchanted Blue Blue, or Rare, items are the next quality level and are significantly more rare (and valuable) than Green items. The majority of Blue items drop from bosses in dungeons and are BoP. However, there are quite a few BoE blues that drop in the world and are usually in high demand among other players. First off, there should be more BOP items that the alchemist creates; for example, potions that only the maker can use. Second, the proc rate of potions should be increased - thus the alchemist’s materials would go a bit further. Finally, the professions of alchemy and herbalism should be combined into one profession. Thus the potential alchemist could acquire his own mats without the cost of a profession. I know what your thinking, what about the other professions such as leather working, blacksmithing, engineering and so on. Well the same would hold true. Leather working and skinning would combine as would the other professions and their gathering counterparts (blacksmithing would envelope engineering as sub specialization). Perhaps instead of having specific gathering professions the various branches of the different primary professions could in and of them selves become professions. So for example a person’s two professions might be potion making (again potions/ flasks, and elixirs) and transmutations or a person could be both a black smith who creates swords and one who creates armor.
